This is another controversial issue within the country. First we must state that we accept the reality of man made climate change. We believe the government's part in this should simply be to stop subsidizing oil and supporting fossil fuel industries and to allow the free market to decide on its preferred energy sources. The government's role should be limited to public education about the human role in climate change and to inform consumers about which choices they would like to and can make in order to change the planet.

We believe prison should shift its focus to be based more on reformation than punishment. We also support prison labor programs, which teach prisoners discipline and give them work skills for when they leave. As well, we believe the death penalty should continue to be implemented, and prisoners assigned life in prison should instead be given the death penalty as there is no point to rehabilitation from that point on. However, the death penalty should only be given in a much stricter form of trial where it can more than reasonably be proven the criminal is guilty. In these cases appeals should not be allowed as that is where most of the cost of capital punishment come from.

We do not believe the U.S. should close its borders, but tougher restrictions should be enforced. People who illegally enter the country should be expected to follow the regular naturalization process just as anyone else should. Those who enter legally should go through thorough background checks and be monitored for their first three years in the country. While we should not ban any group of people from entering the country, we do believe it can be appropriate to have a quota for people from specific countries, although it should never dip below 1000 people.

Educational reform is a hot issue for many people. Those on the left often believe all schools should require equal pay while those on the right believe pay should be based on performance. Another issue is that of charter schools as those on the right believe parents should have choice in pursuing their child's education. Our compromise is this: we believe pay can be based on performance, but it should only ever be increased, never decreased. If we set a baseline then we can prevent schools from becoming trapped with a low budget and never being able to find quality teachers to get out of it. We also believe that charter schools should be allowed, but should not be endorsed by the government. This would allow them to remain private and maintain parent choice. Finally, we believe public sector unions are unnecessary and the government should be trusted to maintain teacher pay.

We believe voting requires a large change to ensure the democratic tranquility of the country. The best solution we have devised is to implement a single transferable vote system. This system would allow you to rank the candidates (1, 2, 3, 4...) in the order you would like them to be elected and if your number one pick loses, your vote would go to your second pick and so on. This would allow people to vote for third parties and hopefully limit the divide between the main two political parties in the country. For the sake of compromise of course, we do not believe the electoral college system should be abolished.

We support a limited health care supported by the federal government, but this will not replace regular health care companies. People will be allowed to opt out and seek private doctors if they wish.

As this is an issue that must be either or and we can not have a in between, we support deferring to state laws for the legalization of marijuana so that the areas that support cannabis use may allow it and those that do not will not have to have it.
